Leadership Caucus Overview
CRE’s renowned Leadership Caucus program equips early-career nonprofit executives to sharpen their leadership skills, connect with peers, and drive meaningful change. Through deep self-reflection, participants learn to leverage their unique strengths and experiences while building resilience against burnout. This program offers tools to tackle risk, lead with inclusivity, and foster innovation for long-term success. Join a community of leaders redefining what it means to lead with purpose and adaptability.
What You'll Learn & How You'll Grow
Over the course of six full-day sessions, you'll take a deep dive into CRE’s Impactful Leadership model—gaining fresh insight into your unique strengths and areas for growth. Together, we’ll explore how your lived experiences and identities shape your leadership style, and how you can adapt to meet the changing needs of your organization and the world around you.
This journey of reflection and connection is designed to help you walk away with:
- Connection and Belonging: Participants will foster meaningful relationships and expand their professional networks, decreasing isolation while building a strong sense of connection and belonging within a community of fellow leaders.
- Enhanced Personal and Collective Well-Being: Participants will develop greater awareness around recognizing burnout, including the importance of self-care practices rooted in equity and justice.
- Risk Management Competency: Participants will be equipped with the knowledge and skills to lead their teams through a risk management assessment and planning process, ensuring organizational resilience.
- Inclusive Leadership: Participants will gain a shared understanding of the importance of DEIA in all aspects of organizational work.
- Innovative Thinking and Practice: Participants will deepen their understanding of innovation by exploring attitudes and perspectives that drive innovative thinking.
- Reflective Leadership Growth: Participants will have a shared space to reflect on their experiences as executive leaders and build an understanding of how repeated success is achieved.
Who Should Apply: Ideal Candidates
This program is designed for early-career executive leaders of nonprofit organizations who are ready to deepen their leadership capacity and drive organizational success and social impact. Ideal participants are those who:
- Have approximately 1-5 years of experience in executive leadership or C-suite roles and are looking to refine their leadership approach in response to evolving challenges.
- Are committed to building more inclusive, equitable, and resilient organizations.
- Seek to enhance their ability to assess and shape organizational culture, navigate risks, and lead through complex financial landscapes.
- Are interested in exploring innovative thinking and practices to foster long-term organizational growth.
- Want to reflect on their leadership journey, understand how their identity impacts their leadership, and embrace self-awareness as a tool for effective leadership
- Are interested in expanding their network of peers in the nonprofit executive community.

- As part of the Leadership Caucus experience, you'll receive two personalized, one-on-one virtual coaching sessions to support your growth and reflection throughout the program.
- You’ll also gain access to the TruScore 360 Feedback Assessment, one of the industry’s most respected tools for identifying your leadership strengths, growth areas, and how your impact is experienced by others in the workplace.
- During in-person sessions, breakfast, lunch, and snacks are included, so you can stay focused, nourished, and connected.
- Finally, you’ll become part of the CRE Leadership Alumni Network—with early access to exclusive gatherings, professional development opportunities, and a growing community of equity-centered leaders!
Investment: Tuition & Financial Support
The full tuition for CRE’s Leadership Caucus is $6,000.
To help ensure access, additional scholarships may be available for a limited number of organizations with annual operating budgets under $2 million.
We encourage all interested applicants to apply early, as space is limited and discounts are only available through the early application deadline.

What is the application process?
We’re accepting applications on a rolling basis, so the sooner you apply, the better!
Our team will carefully review each application and may reach out with any follow-up questions. Admission decisions will be shared in December.
How does payment work?
Once you’re accepted into the program, we’ll send you an invoice. Payment is due within two weeks of the invoice date and can be made by credit card, ACH electronic payment, or check—whatever works best for your organization.
